Supported Formats¶
The Finger SDK adheres to a range of international and industry-specific standards for fingerprint data representation and compression. Compliance with these standards ensures interoperability between different biometric systems and facilitates the integration of the Finger SDK into various applications and workflows. Below is a list of the supported data formats and standards.
Image Formats¶
The SDK supports the following image formats, allowing for the storage and transmission of fingerprint images in widely accepted digital formats:
BMP (Microsoft Windows Bitmap)
A raster graphics image file format known for its simplicity.
PNG (ISO/IEC 15948:2003)
A raster graphics format that supports lossless data compression.
TIFF (ISO/IEC 12639)
A flexible and adaptable file format for handling images and data within a single file.
JPEG (ISO/IEC 10918)
A commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images.
JPEG 2000 (ISO/IEC 15444)
An image encoding system designed for high compression efficiency.
WebP
A modern image format that provides superior lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. With its efficient compression, WebP enables smaller, richer images, making it ideal for web applications and mobile devices.
Raw
The raw data of the grayscale image.
Important
Images must be grayscale 8 bits.

Finger Minutiae Formats¶
For the representation and exchange of fingerprint minutiae, the SDK supports:
ISO/IEC 19794-2 Finger Minutiae Record Format
Supported versions: 2005 and 2011.
ISO/IEC 19794-2 Finger Minutiae Compact Card Format
Optimized for use in smart cards and similar applications.
ISO/IEC 19794-2 Finger Minutiae Normal Card Format
Optimized for use in smart cards and similar applications.
ANSI INCITS 378 Finger Minutiae Format
Supported versions: 2004 and 2009.

Finger Image Formats¶
To ensure the SDK can interact with a variety of fingerprint imaging systems, it supports:
WSQ (IAFIS-IC-0010 Version 3.1)
The WSQ Gray-Scale Fingerprint Image Compression Specification is crucial for efficiently storing and transmitting fingerprint images.
ISO/IEC 19794-4 Finger Image Format
Supported versions: 2005 and 2011.
ANSI INCITS 381 Finger Image Format
Supported versions: 2004 and 2009.
ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011 Update:2015 (AN2K) transaction
Traditional encoding or XML encoding formats supported.
